Riser & Caisson Inspection

Innospection’s MEC-MPS series of marinised scanners combine the next generation of fast corrosion mapping Magnetic Eddy Current (MEC) technique with high resolution Ultrasonic mapping, Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC), camera system and/or other supporting inspection techniques to enable the inspection of risers, caissons and other subsea pipes for the detection and evaluation of both external and internal defects.

The MEC-MPS series of marinised scanners is used for the condition assessment of rigid risers, caissons and structures including through the neoprene coating and Monel cladding. They allow the smooth transition from the topside directly into the splash zone and subsea terrains without a break in the continuity of scanning.

Based on the fast corrosion mapping Magnetic Eddy Current (MEC) technique which is the further development of the industry proven Saturation Low Frequency Eddy Current (SLOFEC™) technique, the MEC-MPS marinised scanners have high defect detection capability for localised defects in both thin and thick walled piping. They can be easily adapted for both internal and external corrosion inspection.

The Magnetic Eddy Current (MEC) technique is capable of detecting corrosion through various coatings and thicknesses up to 15mm, including through protective materials such as neoprene coating and Monel cladding. The reporting software utilises a combination of colour images and individual defect analysis to provide comprehensive inspection result
